WildAx’s latest campervan, the Equinox, is making its debut launch at the Motorhome & Caravan Show at the NEC this week.
The new campervan is based on the Ford Transit, one of the best vans for converting to a camper, and is available with four wheel drive, as shown in the model on display, and front-wheel drive. The Equinox is a four-berth, although the front dinette is for sitting in only.
The beds include a rear transverse bed that folds up to give you access to storage space underneath, and a double in the Lippert pop-up roof as well. The latter is accessed via a ladder that can be put into position without affecting the table in the dinette.
The vehicle includes room for a 6kg gas bottle, but this is only used to power the two-burner hob. There is a diesel heater for space and water heating. As standard you also get a 10Ah lithium battery and a 200W campervan solar panel.

As standard you get a six-speed manual gearbox and Ford’s 130bhp engine. But an upgrade to eight-speed automatic transmission is also available.
The Lippert roof fits flush into a moulding when you bring it down, to reduce the amount of noise you might get on the road.
WildAx has also matched the upholstery in the front dinette with Ford’s own cab upholstery, but also included a new central strip of hexagonal padding for added comfort.
The Four Wheel Drive version is currently on sale at the show for £85,885 OTR.
WildAx has been joined by Auto-Sleepers in launching new ‘vans at the Birmingham show. The Cotswold-based manufacturer has unveiled its new Active campervan range, with the three models coming on a Fiat Ducato and being targeted at families and younger buyers.
