Popular Surrey-based van converters Bilbo’s Campervans is working with Anker to offer the manufacturer’s digital power stations as an option in all of its vans.
The best portable power station for a campervan can make a big difference to the on-tour experience, providing a valuable extra source of power on the go. There are a couple of different power station options available, including a system where you can have a mains upgrade and can use one of the power stations to have mains power when campervanning off-grid.
Another option is one that allows have a fast charger connected to the vehicle battery so that you can charge one of the Anker units very quickly while you are driving within a couple of hours. When you get to the site, the auxiliary battery should be able to give you five or six days of independence.
There are two sizes of power station – the Solix C800 is suitable for recharging the battery and extending your 12V life. While the larger Solix C1000 unit will allow you to run electrical devices such as microwaves – in effect, having mains capability off-grid, ideal for those who are fans of campervanning off-grid.
Bilbo’s say that the Solix C1000 unit you should be able to run a microwave for three to four hours on a single charge. One of the advantages of having a power station is that, as they are portable units, they can be charged pretty much anywhere with mains power, be that a café or residential home, making them a handy campervan upgrade.
Depending on the size, the units will fit under the seats or just in front and are being offered as an option on all vans. Prices start from £495.
Bilbo’s is exhibiting at the NEC this week, where visitors are able to meet a number of manufacturers and converters. This includes Onyx, which is showcasing its Summit 2.0, a campervan which is off-grid and expedition-ready.
