Levelling system partners with alarm firm for “complete” security

A security system where levelling jacks come into play as a deterrent as soon as a motorhome alarm is triggered is now being offered by two companies in a joint partnership.

VB-Airsuspension UK and Scorpion Automotive have been working together for a year to develop the motorhome security system using Scorpion’s alarm and VB’s SHR levelling jacks.

Having good security can be a must for ‘van owners, with motorhome trackers and immobilisers among the possible options, and now the new levelling jacks and alarm system could be another option for ‘van owners.

The companies say that not only does the new system make the vehicle very difficult to move, but it also provides a clearly visible deterrent to any would-be thief.

They say that integrating the alarm with the motorhome self-levelling system builds on existing levels of security, instead of replacing them. While the alarm alerts owners, activating the levelling system prevents movement at the point of attempted theft.

To prevent the jacks being deployed by the alarm going off accidentally, there is an isolator switch which must be turned on for the system to be activated.

Teams from both companies worked together to ensure that their systems could communicate effectively and to make sure the integration works with Thatcham-approved alarms and so is suitable for the UK market.

VB has now installed the system on its demonstration vehicle, and has also installed a system at TMD Motorhomes near Redditch in Warwickshire.

VB-Airsuspension UK managing director Mike Wodehouse said, “We’re extremely proud to be collaborating with Scorpion on this new SHR Levelling innovation, bringing together advanced levelling technology and smart security integration. We’ve been hugely impressed by the initial reaction to the system, which reinforces our view that this is a significant peace of mind advance for both motorhome and campervan owners.”

Anyone interested in finding out more only needs to visit an SHR dealer and quote “Settle Anywhere” to get an alarm module – the first stage in the integration – for free, and a motorhome weight suitability check for free.

In other news, two wine superstores in Calais are now authorised for overnight stays in their car parks. The two spots are both located just off the A16 motorway, so will be well-placed for both the Eurotunnel and the ferry.
