The best motorhome site in Dorset
South Lytchett Manor is a popular motorhome site in Dorset, having been voted the Regional Winner by our readers for a second year in a row. It also achieved the notable feat of being voted the second-best site for motorhomes in our 2026 Top 100 Sites Guide.
From the campsite, guests will be able to explore some of the highlights of the region, including Poole and Bournemouth, which are three and nine miles away, respectively. The picturesque Jurassic Coast is also only 13 miles away, where its beautiful beaches can be explored – be sure to look out for the fossils.
The campsite itself sits in 20 acres of peaceful parkland, and provides a laundry, free Wi-Fi, an adventure playground, a bakery, award-winning heated amenity blocks, a shop stocked with local produce, and The Manor’s Tap bar.
Anyone who is motorhoming with a dog will be pleased to hear canines are allowed in the site’s shops and café, while there is also a dog shower and a 2.5-acre exercise area.
For motorhomers wanting a break from cooking, the site has added a van selling homemade pizza for 2026, with additional food trucks stopping off during the main season.

For those who want an adults-only motorhome site in Dorset, Back of Beyond Touring Park could be worth a look.
It’s a regular contender in our Top 100 Sites Guide, and also has the accolade of being voted the third best site in the UK for ‘van owners in our Top 100 Sites Guide 2026.
Back of Beyond can be found in 30 acres of glorious countryside. As one of the best adults-only motorhome sites, it offers ‘van owners a tranquil stay where the rigours of everyday life can be escaped, and also provides an ideally situated spot for exploring Dorset’s many delights.
Destinations include Wimborne Minster, Ringwood, and the unforgettable New Forest National Park. Other attractions in the surrounding area are Bournemouth, Southampton, Stonehenge and Winchester.
For 2026, the site had made more of its pitches fully serviced. There are also a range of facilities on-site, including a reception shop where local produce can be purchased, four heated toilet and shower blocks, and a licensed bar.
Catering vans stop off, and a dog wash is provided, which could come in handy after exploring the site’s 18 acres of woodland with your canine companion.

Ideally placed for exploring Weymouth, which is around five miles away, Bagwell Farm Touring Park is a family-run campsite which provides a welcoming atmosphere.
Visit during the main season, and the Red Barn will be open, a dog-friendly setting where locally brewed alcoholic drinks and hot meals can be ordered.
Other amenities include a shop which is well-stocked, a children’s play area, two wash blocks, and a dog wash. Say hello to the campsite’s resident donkeys and goats, too.
The site is well-placed for walkers who want to explore the South West Coast Path and take in the stunning views it offers.
Holmsley Campsite

For those who like the idea of pitching up in a setting where they are surrounded by open heathland and ancient woodland, Holmsley Campsite could be the Dorset motorhome site for you.
It’s set within the heart of the stunning New Forest on part of what was the old Holmsley airfield. During your stay, look out for the grazing ponies and other wildlife you may spot.
From the site, guests can follow trails that lead straight into the forest. Facilities include showers and toilets, a shop, a self-service dog wash, and a laundry, while a play area has been newly refurbished for children.

Found in the beautiful Stour Valley, this 3.5-acre site allows motorhomers to enjoy spacious pitches, from which popular destinations such as Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and the New Forest can be explored.
The campsite offers a shower block with free hot showers, a book cabin where both games and books can be borrowed, a laundry room, a children’s play area, an undercover dishwashing area, and, for 2026, a social room has been added, where tea and coffee-making facilities are provided.
Wimborne Minster is only 1.5 miles away, too.
