One of the joys of campervanning is the freedom it offers to allow you to enjoy your favourite activities, with campsites up and down the country offering the locations or facilities for relaxing and doing what you love. For those who love getting their steps in, the best campervan sites for walkers are likely to be high on their list of must-visit locations.
After all, few things beat getting out into the fresh air and embarking on a good walk, taking in beautiful views and getting your steps in at the same time.
Whether you’re after a campervan site for a city break, a site with amazing views, or want one where you can enjoy your pursuits, such as walking, there will always be a destination to suit you. With that in mind, we’re sharing five of our favourite sites to pitch up at for walkers.
Bellingham Camping and Caravanning Club Site

With 250 square miles of forest, as well as reservoirs and trails, Kielder Forest is a great spot for walkers. Bellingham Camping and Caravanning Club Site is perfectly located in the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park, with plenty of facilities.
For those who enjoy a more challenging hike, try the route from Bellingham C&CC Site to the spectacular Hareshaw Linn waterfall.
On the way, take in the beautiful wooded gorge, which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, where you can observe an array of rare ferns and lichens.
Sherwood Forest Holiday Park

For gentle walks amid ancient oaks (there are said to be 997 of them!), Sherwood Forest has a great deal to commend it. There are plenty of hikes and trails to introduce you to one
of England’s finest, most evocative forests – don your Lincoln Green and explore in the footsteps of the legendary Robin Hood!
The beautiful Sherwood Forest Holiday Park is ideally located on the banks of the River Maun, surrounded by woodland; it’s ideal as a base for exploring this beautiful and historically important area.
Broadway CAMC Site
Address: Station Road, Broadway, Worcestershire WR12 7DH, caravanclub.co.uk

Running the entire length of the lovely Cotswolds, Cotswold Way National Trail stretches 102 miles as it winds south from Chipping Campden through very pretty villages, such as Snowshill and Painswick, before ending at Bath Abbey.
There are lots of easy sections (to find out more, visit nationaltrail.co.uk).
Birdlip to Painswick is a good start, at 8.5 miles, taking in Cooper’s Hill, site of the famous cheese-rolling event.
Wherever you might decide to walk, Broadway Caravan & Motorhome Club Site makes an attractive base.
Corfe Castle Dorset Camping

Enid Blyton regularly holidayed in Dorset for much of her life, and based the family home of the Famous Five’s George on the ruins of Corfe Castle.
The castle is a pleasant stroll of about a mile – with scenic views of the Purbeck Hills – from the Corfe Castle campsite. The latter is in a great location, not only for the village and the castle, but also for enjoying several excellent walks from its doorstep.
It is equally handy for local public transport, if you want to save both energy and shoe leather!
Grantown-on-Spey Caravan Park

A regular in our Top 100 Sites Guide, this park in the Cairngorms is just the place for exploring the landscapes of the glorious National Park.
There’s fishing for salmon and trout on the River Spey, and a range of walking routes, all amid wonderful scenery.
Non-motorhoming guests will find there are chalets, pods and wigwams available for hire, and facilities at this dog-friendly park include high-speed broadband, two heated shower blocks, a launderette and a children’s play park.
