Forestry England is offering ‘van owners the opportunity to enjoy an overnight stay in picturesque woodland spots this summer, following the launch of its Forest Campervan Road Trip.
The scheme, which is to run from 16th July to 14th September, will see seven forest car parks open for overnight stays, allowing motorhome and campervan owners to take in beautiful forest sights across England. Stays of up to two nights will be permitted at each car park.
Designed for off-grid campervanning and motorhoming, most sites will have a nearby visitor centre where cafés and toilets will be on offer. The stays are open for self-contained motorhomes and campervans only, while there will be limits applied to the size of motorhomes permitted.
The seven car parks are:
- Bedgebury National Pinetum, Kent
- Jeskyns Community Woodland, Kent
- High Lodge, Thetford Forest, Suffolk
- Wendover Woods, Buckinghamshire
- Cardinham Woods, Cornwall
- Gisburn Forest, Lancashire
- Kielder Castle, Northumberland
Pre-booking, which is available now, will be required at each site, with stays priced at £16 per night (or £14 for Forestry England members). The only exception is Kielder Castle, which costs £15 per night and requires no pre-booking.
The scheme is not open to caravans or tents.
In other touring news, the Caravan and Motorhome Club has announced ClubFest 2027 will be held at Sandringham Estate. Early bird pitches are currently available, while the headline acts have also been announced, with The Wanted 2.0 headlining on the Saturday, and Bat! (Bat out of Hell Anniversary Tour) on the Sunday.
Other campsite news has seen an illegal Lake District campsite owner fined £4,050. The owner received an enforcement notice from the Lake District National Park Authority, but failed to act, leading to the fine.
